The institute designed training programs to orient local community on the impact of
environmental issues, climate changes, Global warming and its effect on poor and forest-based
communities and finding collective strategies to protect water, food and the green
environment for community empowerment.

Seedlings distribution at Perunthandalam
During these programs, the Institute encouraged the a participants, to identify the issues which
will enable implementing a sustainable and eco-based livelihoods activity for the promotion of
income source and to challenge poverty.
1) 35 training programs on ‘Environmental awareness and climate change” were organized in
15 villages from our area.
2) To emphazie this effort, one week long environmental educative exhibition was also
arranged at ICDS premises, wherein the student from Kelambakkam and Manambathy school
children participated.
3) Jeevandhara well construction:-. The State Government sanctioned free well construction
scheme for farmers from our project area. Through this scheme, 20 farmers benefitted . They
were all provided with an amount of Rs.45,000/- each. The construction cost during those
times, were well sufficient to these farmers. This program earned good name to our Institute.
4) An idea of forming Agricultural club was mooted at the meeting of core group members of
various women federation. NABARD’s link was also discussed which resulted with formation of
a few agricultures clubs in the villages.
